Our privacy notice: how we collect, use and protect your information, plus our affiliate and travel disclaimers.
01Who is responsible for your data
Casa Böhem (casabohemmx.com) is an independent travel blog operated from Mexico. We are the party responsible for the personal data you share with us through this website. In this notice, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Casa Böhem.
Contact for anything related to your personal data: casabohem.mx@gmail.com.
02What we collect
We only collect what you choose to share with us, plus basic information about how the site is used.
- Trip enquiries: your name, email, destination, travel dates, number of travellers, budget and message when you fill in our enquiry form.
- Emails: your name, email address and anything you write to us.
- Usage data: through Google Analytics, information such as the pages you visit, time on page, the type of device and browser you use, how you arrived at the site and your approximate location (country or city), plus an online identifier stored in a cookie.
We do not ask for or collect sensitive personal data (such as health, religion, political opinions, sexual life or financial information). Please do not include it in your messages.
03Why we use it
Primary purposes (needed to give you what you ask for):
- Reply to your messages and enquiries.
- Plan and organise your trip, if you ask us to.
- Keep the website secure and working.
Secondary purposes: we use anonymous usage statistics to understand which guides are useful and improve the blog. We do not send marketing or newsletters. If we ever do, we will ask for your permission first, and you can say no at any time by writing to casabohem.mx@gmail.com, without affecting anything else.
Legal basis (for visitors from the European Union, the UK and similar laws): your consent (enquiry form, emails and analytics cookies where consent is required), the steps you ask us to take before planning a trip, and our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and understanding how it is used.
06How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and emails only for as long as we need them to reply, plan your trip and meet our legal obligations, and then we delete them. Google Analytics data is kept for no more than 14 months.
07How we protect it
Our website uses a secure connection (HTTPS), and only we have access to the messages and enquiries you send us. No method of sending or storing data online is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
08Your rights and how to use them
You can ask us at any time to:
- Access the personal data we have about you.
- Rectify it if it is wrong or incomplete.
- Cancel (delete) it.
- Oppose or limit its use for a specific purpose.
- Withdraw your consent, without affecting anything done before.
- For visitors from the EU, UK and similar laws: receive your data in a portable format.
In Mexico these are known as your ARCO rights. To use them, email casabohem.mx@gmail.com with: your name and an email to reply to, a document that proves your identity (or that of your legal representative), a clear description of the data and the right you want to exercise, and anything that helps us find your data. We will reply within the deadlines set by law and tell you how your request will be carried out.
If you think we have not respected your rights, you can file a complaint with the data protection authority. In Mexico this is the Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno; in the EU and UK, the data protection authority where you live.
09Automated decisions
We do not make any automated decisions or profiles about you.
10Children
Casa Böhem is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us their information, write to us and we will delete it.
11Affiliate links & sponsored content
Some links on Casa Böhem are affiliate links. If you book or buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It helps us keep this blog free.
From time to time we may also work with hotels, brands or tourism boards on sponsored stays or posts, and we will always say so in the post. Paid or not, we only recommend places we have experienced ourselves and would go back to, and our opinions are always our own.
12Accuracy of information
Everything on this blog is for general information and inspiration. We work hard to keep prices, opening hours and details up to date, but travel changes quickly: places close, prices go up and schedules move. Please check the important details directly before you travel.
13Limitation of liability
Travel involves risks. Casa Böhem is not responsible for any loss, injury or damage that comes from using the information on this website. Use your own judgement, follow local advice and get travel insurance.
14Copyright & our photos
All text and photos on Casa Böhem are ours unless we say otherwise, and they are protected by copyright. Please do not copy or republish them without our permission. If you would like to use one of our photos or articles, contact us and we will gladly share our rates and terms.
15Changes to this notice
We may update this privacy notice when the law, our services or the tools we use change. Every change is published on this page, and the date at the top always shows the latest version. If a change affects how we use data you already gave us, we will let you know by email when we can.
