How to Experience Tabacon Hot Springs Day Pass in 2025 | A Couples’ Guide
Tucked at the base of Costa Rica’s Arenal Volcano, Tabacon feels like a secret jungle retreat. Steam rises from the thermal rivers that flow through lush tropical gardens. The natural mineral-rich water fills pools and waterfalls, creating a serene escape.
While you don’t need to stay overnight to enjoy this luxury. The Tabacon Hot Springs Day Pass lets you access the springs for the day. This makes it an ideal choice for couples seeking a mix of nature and relaxation without the overnight cost.
Here’s what you need to know before visiting, including booking tips and what to expect.
What is Tabacon Hot Springs?
Tabacón is one of the most famous luxury hot spring resorts in La Fortuna. The thermal waters come directly from the Arenal Volcano. These waters are completely natural and mineral-rich. They flow through pools that blend into the surrounding rainforest.
Unlike many other hot springs parks, Tabacon focuses on preserving the natural environment while offering high-end amenities. It is popular among honeymooners and wellness travelers.

Tabacon Hot Springs Day Pass Options | What’s Included
Tabacón offers two types of day passes. It is important to know that prices vary between peak and low seasons. Since passes are limited, you must reserve in advance.
You can book tickets on the official website. However, passes sell out quickly. We recommend booking as soon as your travel dates are confirmed.
Peak Season | December 18th – January 7th & Easter Week
The experience here is truly unique; a perfect blend of luxury, nature, and tranquility and the day pass pricing reflects that. However, with access lasting from 10AM to 10PM, you have plenty of time to explore the thermal pools, waterfalls, and peaceful trails, making the cost well worth it in our opinion.
Day passes give access to all thermal pools, waterfalls, walking trails, showers, and changing rooms. Optional spa treatments and meals cost extra.
Day Pass Only | Starts at $89 USD
Day Pass + Culinary Experience (Lunch or Dinner) | Starts at $158 USD
TIP | If you decide to not indulge in the culinary experience, they allow for re-entry the day of your visit. So, this gives you the chance to go a get a bite to eat somewhere near by and come back.

How to Visit Tabacon Hot Springs
Tabacon Hot Springs is conveniently located just about 10 minutes south of La Fortuna town, making it easily accessible whether you’re staying nearby or exploring the region.

Best time to visit Tabacon
The ideal time to visit Tabacon is ANYTIME. Therefore, there is truly no bad time; we’ve experienced both rain and sunshine here. Each visit was unique and amazing in its own way.
The hot springs open at 10 AM and close at 10 PM, but we recommend arriving early especially during peak season to enjoy the tranquility before the crowds arrive. Late afternoons and evenings offer a magical ambiance as the pools light up softly under the stars.
TIP | Take your time and explore the gardens. Many visitors focus solely on the hot springs and miss the animals hidden within the lush greenery.

Our Experience at Tabacon Hot Springs
From the moment we arrived, the resort felt like a peaceful jungle sanctuary. Paths wind alongside warm rivers and tropical plants. We spent hours moving between pools. Each one offered a different temperature and mood.
The warm water, heated by the volcano, relaxed both our bodies and minds. What impressed us most was the blend of wild nature and thoughtful luxury.
Despite being popular, the resort’s layout allowed for private, quiet moments. This makes it perfect for couples seeking intimacy.
Showers and changing rooms made it easy to freshen up after soaking. Although we didn’t try the restaurant this time, it looked inviting with fresh local dishes.
