Impression Isla Mujeres Reviews | The Best Adults Only All-Inclusive on The Island

Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets

Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets is an all-inclusive adults only resort on the island of Isla Mujeres. We decided to celebrate our birthday’s here this year. It was a great getaway for just the two of us. We have been to Isla Mujeres multiple times but this was definitely a more of a luxurious getaway to celebrate.

This is our Impression Isla Mujeres reviews.

Arrival

Once we had our reservation, we received an email with instructions on how to proceed with making arrangements on arriving the resort. We sent an email to their concierge team, who will give you the options of transportation on how to get to Impression Isla Mujeres from the airport to the marina as well as maritime transportation to the hotel.

One of our favorite amenities at the Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets is the catamaran they offer as maritime transportation to the resort. We thought this was such a well though out way to get there, it definitely beats taking one of the ferries to Isla Mujeres and then having to take a taxi or rent a golf cart to the resort.

The catamaran has different departure times, approximately every hour. And it takes around 30 to 40 minutes to get to the resort.

Tip | Since we were only there for one night, we decided to take the earliest catamaran available which was at 9AM and we were the only guests. It was like a private luxurious catamaran all to ourselves.

Once you arrive to the hotel at Isla Mujeres, you will be greeted by a bellman and your personal concierge with welcome drinks in hand. Your personal concierge will give you a tour of the property and your room if it is ready. He will also send you the itinerary of the day to your phone, and help make any reservations for activities if you would like.

In our case, since we arrived early we ran off to have breakfast at the main restaurant La Vista. As we walk in we are received by live music in the restaurant, a local musician playing remixed pop music on the harp.

The Grounds

The Impression by Secrets is definitely up there with our favorite hotels. The design is so well thought out, and every detail makes the stay even better.

It is a great mix of Mediterranean style architecture with wood and stone textures. The resort is built in to a cliff, so you can definitely get ready to climb some stairs. Although, one of the best things is that at every different level there is a pool area, restaurant and bar waiting for you. Making the work out enjoyable and worth it.

The majority of the resort is an indoor-outdoor vibe. The main areas are covered, but walking from one place to another you are pretty much out in the open. While we there it rained for a couple of hours, you can expect this with tropical weather. But not to worry, they have umbrellas all around for you to use freely.

Restaurants

There are 6 different restaurants at Impression by Secrets Isla Mujeres. Which make it really hard to decide if you are there for a short time like us. None of them disappoint so you really can’t go wrong.

Spezia | Spot on Mediterranean menu. This was our favorite restaurant out of the ones we tried. The pizzas are all made in a stove oven, and the fish dishes are the freshest thing on the menu. And not to mention the views are to die for!

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. We recommend going for lunch to not only indulge on the food but the views too. Spezia is Ă  la carte and open from 1PM-10PM.

Sake | We sadly didn’t get to dine here on our visit, but we probably would’ve preferred to go to dinner here than the steakhouse. This is a Pan-Asian restaurant.

We are more sushi people than meat people. And honestly, all the fish dishes we had at the hotel were always fresh and delicious. Sake is only open for dinner from 6PM-10PM, and they have everything from sushi to ramen.

Wildfire | Premium steakhouse, we went here for dinner and the portions are huge! The only thing I was disappointed in is that they won’t allow you to take your left overs with you. So I wish I would’ve known about the portion sizes and we would have ordered accordingly.

Being open only for dinner 6PM-10PM it offers a dark and lounge like atmosphere with of course live music while you dine.

La Vista | We actually ate here twice during our stay for breakfast. Both times we chose to be seated on the terrace. Can you tell we are a sucker for a view?

The menu is extensive enough with a mix of Mexican and International cuisine. We ordered different things each day and everything was pretty good. La Vista is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But we would recommend it only for breakfast. In our opinion there are other restaurants that are better for lunch or dinner.

La Vista is open for breakfast from 7:30AM-11AM and for lunch 12:30PM-4:30PM.

Mercado | Located right next door to La Vista. Great for a quick bite in between meals after working up an appetite by the pool or on the deck. You can indulge in pizzas and tacos between the hours of 11:30AM and 4:30PM.

Unik The Kitchen | Located on the roof top of the hotel, with drop dead views from the infinity pool. They serve tapas and drinks during the day while you relax by the pool.

Open pretty much all day from 11AM-9:30PM. By night Unik turns in to a nightclub where they had a fire show one night.

Bars

There are almost as many bars as there are restaurants. Impression Isla Mujeres really knows what a vacation is all about. With 5 bars scattered through out the hotel, you will never be far from your favorite cocktail.

Manta | Refreshments by the sea, served to you while you are enjoying the beach.

Hamaca | The hotels private water lounge and bar.

Sharks | Our favorite swim up bar in the main pool of the hotel, with breathtaking views.

Isola | Great indoor bar in the lobby, great to grab a drink before a meal.

El Templo | Impressive sunset terrace bar, this place left us in awe. We highly recommend it for a sunset drink before dinner.

Pools, beach & slide

As we mentioned above, there are enough pools for it never to feel crowded. We did go in low season, but honestly we had most of the pools to ourselves or shared with just a handful of people.

There are 3 pools at Impression by Secrets Isla Mujeres. Each of them have food and drink service. You can also find everything from towels, sunscreen and bug spray conveniently at each of these.

The rooftop pool is a large infinity pool and the view are absolutely breathtaking. This is also where the hotel events take place and sometimes on weekends they have a DJ.

Our personal favorite spot was on the deck. It’s a U shaped deck that wraps around the beach area used to block the waves. There are lounge chairs set up under large umbrellas to block the sun. As well as netted hamacas off the side of the deck right over the ocean.

There is a deck butler on top of giving you dry towels and comes around with sunscreen. There also is a waitress coming around taking drink orders as well as food orders. We felt so pampered and so well taken care of while relaxing under the sun.

Right off the deck is the beach area also set up with loungers and umbrellas or they have private cabanas. The sand is silky smooth, and the ocean is see through. You can find water sports such as kayaks, paddle boards as well as a snorkel tour to the left of the beach.

Last but not least, is the slide that spills out in to the ocean. We had a blast going down. It’s pretty fast and so much fun! However, we recommend leaving your towels and bags either on the beach or on the deck. Once you are down by the ocean you have to walk on a ramp 3 stories back up to where the slide starts.

The Room

We booked the signature junior king suite with hot tub and ocean view. Our only regret was not staying for longer.

The room has a king bed, large flat screen tv and your own sunken living room area with stocked wine bar, refreshments and snack bar. The wine bar is stocked with red, white, rose and sparkling. As well as your own coffee machine and tea. There is definitely something for everybody.

Top notch technology with everything from room temperature, lighting, tv features and room service all controlled from an iPad.

The terrace was the highlight of our stay. Being able to watch the sunrise from our hot tub first thing in the morning, is definitely our idea of a vacation. You also have a private hammock and little sitting area on the terrace where you can choose to have breakfast. Although, I do have to mention that the “hot tub” is not really hot this is more like a private pool.

Tip | The Impression by Secrets Isla Mujeres is a part of the Hyatt Incclusive Collection. If you are a part of the World of Hyatt program you can check out their rewards program which is free. If you are not apart of the program you can still book here.

Amenities

The Impression by Secrets Isla Mujeres is definitely on top of their in room amenities. Aside from the personal concierge who is basically in charge of only a dozen of guests, their reservations for the restaurants, activities and personal requests. You can find an array of luxury amenities inside the suites.

Such as high end bath amenities from the popular brand Le Labo, including incense. Two in room mini fridges stocked with a selection of wines and another dedicated to refreshments and snacks which are stocked daily. Lets not forget the personal fitness equipment with a yoga mat for each guest.

The final review of Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets

The Impression by Secrets Isla Mujeres is a great hotel for couples, honeymooners as for it is an all inclusive adults only resort. The price is much higher than others on the island of Isla Mujeres, but I could easily say that none come to par with the amenities or top notch food and drinks provided at the Impression.

We would definitely recommend staying for at least two nights, making this a great weekend getaway even if you are staying in Cancun or anywhere else in the Riviera Maya.

Where to Stay in Isla Mujeres

If you’re looking for places to stay on Isla Mujeres, we’ve got some awesome recommendations! If you’re considering a splurge, Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets is a luxurious choice, but it might not fit everyone’s budget. Luckily, the island has plenty of other great options. For a laid-back, bohemian vibe, check out Casa del Jaguar on the south end, complete with a fantastic beach club. And if you want to explore different beaches without being tied to thje hotel, Icaco Island Village is a perfect choice.
